Introduction:

Norbit is a 2007 comedy film directed by Brian Robbins and starring its co-writer, Eddie Murphy, in three leading roles. Produced by Davis Entertainment and Tollin/Robbins Productions, the film also stars Thandie Newton, Terry Crews, Clifton Powell, Lester “Rasta” Speight, Eddie Griffin, Katt Williams, Marlon Wayans, and Cuba Gooding, Jr. It was released by Dreamworks Pictures through Paramount Pictures on February 9, 2007.

Norbit is a normal person, who after being adopted by Mr. Wong, ends up being married to the very large, Rasputia. Norbit’s childhood love, Kate Thomas arrives back in town to buy the orphanage. Norbit sees this as his chance to get back together with Kate, until he discovers that she is in fact engaged to Deion Hughes. Norbit isn’t going to lay this to rest, whilst he tries to survive life with Rasputia, and it looks like Deion also has something he would like to keep secret.

Meet the Spartans is a 2008 spoof/parody produced and directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the sequel to Epic Movie. Similar to past movies such as Epic Movie and Date Movie, it pokes fun at various movies in a satirical fashion. Although it references many movies, TV shows, people and pop cultural events, it focuses mainly on the movie 300.

The film opens with a Spartan elder inspecting a Shrekish baby, he then proceeds to kiss it with the narrator paraphrasing the words of Dilios in the movie 300 about the Spartan selectiveness of their citizens. The baby vomits on the inspector and is then rejected and punted off the hill. With the next baby in hand, the narrator says if it is Vietnamese Brangelina gets first dibs. Baby Leonidas is then inspected, having a six-pack, biceps, and beard from birth. He is accepted as a Spartan and prepared for his kinghood through his childhood training, from fighting his grandmother to enduring James Bond-style torture. Leonidas is then cast out into the wild, and survives the harsh winter while killing a giant penguin.

Following the events of Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, Harold Lee and Kumar Patel fly to Amsterdam so Harold can pursue a budding romance with his neighbor, Maria. After a prolonged struggle with security, the pair run into Vanessa, Kumar’s ex-girlfriend, who happened to be the one who introduced Kumar to marijuana and helped him come out of his shell as an undergraduate. They are soon joined by Vanessa’s fiancee, Colton, who helped Harold get his current job before embarking on a career with the government. The two pairs separate, but not before Vanessa and Kumar share a moment. The two board the plane, but a passenger becomes instantly nervous at Kumar’s appearance, envisioning him as a terrorist. Mid-flight, Kumar follows Harold to the restroom with his new invention: a smokeless bong. As Harold exits, someone sees Kumar lighting the bong. Harold says, “It’s okay, it’s just a bong,” and another passenger yells, “It’s a bomb!”

Air marshals immediately detain both men, and the plane returns to Washington, where Ron Fox, an overzealous undersecretary of Homeland Security, interrogates the pair before sending them to Guantanamo Bay detention camp. Moments after their arrival, the pair are instructed to perform an oral sex act (a “cock meat sandwich”) on a guard, but amidst commotion in the next cell in which two terrorists escape, they quickly take advantage of their own unlocked cell to escape the prison complex, hitching a ride to Miami aboard a boat used by Cuban immigrants.

In Miami, they borrow a car from their college friend Raza who is having a “bottomless” pool party. Then, as fugitives from Homeland Security, they travel from Miami to Texas in search of Colton, in hopes that he will be able to help them through his father, who is connected with several high political officials. Kumar agrees to the plan, secretly hoping to disrupt the marriage.

Family Guy is an American animated television series about a nuclear family in the fictional town of Quahog (IPA [’koÊŠhÉ”g] or [’koÊŠhÉ’g]), Rhode Island. It was created by Seth MacFarlane for FOX in 1999. The show uses frequent “cutaway gags” — jokes in the form of tangential vignettes that do not advance the story.

Family Guy was cancelled once in 2000 and again in 2002, but strong DVD sales and the large viewership of reruns on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim convinced FOX to resume the show in 2005. It is the first cancelled show to be resurrected based on DVD sales.[1]

Creator Seth MacFarlane voices many of the characters (Peter, Brian, Stewie, Glenn Quagmire, Tom Tucker, and others), and works as a gag writer.[2] Other voice actors include Mila Kunis (Meg Griffin), Seth Green (Chris Griffin), Alex Borstein (Lois, Tricia Takanawa, Loretta Brown), Mike Henry (Cleveland, Cleveland Jr, Performance Artist, Herbert, and Greased-up Deaf Guy), Patrick Warburton (Joe Swanson), and Lori Alan (Diane Simmons). Lacey Chabert voiced Meg Griffin for the first production season (14 episodes); however, because of a contractual agreement, she was never credited.

The show revolves around the adventures of Peter Griffin, a bumbling but well-intentioned blue-collar worker. Peter is an Irish-American Catholic with a thick Rhode Island / Eastern Massachusetts accent. During the course of the series, he discovers he is part African-American and has been known to have Spanish, Mexican, Scottish, “Huttish” (fictional species from Star Wars), and German ancestors. He is known for his trademark laugh. His wife Lois, who has a similar accent, is a stay-at-home mom/piano teacher, and is a member of the Pewterschmidt family of wealthy Protestant socialites. Peter and Lois have three children: teenage daughter Meg Griffin who is frequently the butt of jokes for her ugliness; goofy and unintelligent teenage son Chris Griffin, in some respects a younger version of his father; and diabolically evil infant son Stewie Griffin, bent on world domination and the death of his mother. Stewie speaks fluently and eloquently, with an Upper Class English accent and stereotypical arch-villain phrases.

While other characters can hear and understand Stewie, most of his dialogue is ignored or not taken seriously. Brian (the talking pet dog) is the only character that regularly interacts with Stewie on an intellectual level. Stewie refers to his mother and father as “Lois” and “the fat man” respectively. Brian is anthropomorphized in that he walks on two legs, drinks Martinis, owns his own car (a Toyota Prius, circa 2004) and engages in human conversation, though he is still considered a pet in many respects. Occasionally, Brian will act in a stereotypically canine manner, usually for comedic effect (such as his inability to stand up in the back of a car, chasing tennis balls, fear of vacuum cleaners and barking uncontrollably at black people—which he blames on his father’s side of the family). He does, however, object to any overly submissive domestic behavior.
